Jacaratia digitata - Chamburo, Papaya Caspi

A medium-sized, rather sparsely branched tree to 20 m tall with a thick trunk, densely armed with large, conical spines, and large, palmate leaves on long stalks. Female trees produce oblong, angled, yellowish orange, papaya-like, tasty, edible fruits. Jacaratia digitata is native to rainforests in the western and southern regions of the Amazon from Colombia to Bolivia at low and moderate elevations.
