Hedychium deceptum - Red Ginger Lily

A small, rare and very beautiful ginger, native to northeastern India. The leafy shoots produce a terminal inflorescence with purple bracts and many orchid-like, bright red flowers in summer. In cultivation it likes a spot in filtered light and prefers a warm temperate or tropical climates. Perhaps the most beautiful ginger that can be grown outside the tropics.
